Description

Welcome to Cubist Breakfast seminar Tuesday May 14th!

Where are the market opportunities in the world’s largest healthcare system? What role could innovations from Sweden play in the ongoing transformation of the US healthcare system, and what lessons from US scientific and technology innovation might be relevant in Sweden? Zayed Yasin, MD/MBA will address these questions and others, followed by a Q&A and discussion session.

Coffee and breakfast sandwiches are available from 08.00 and the seminar begins at 08.15. The venue is the conference room "Blå Hallen" located on floor 2 at Vasagatan 11 in Stockholm.

The US spends USD 3.5 trillion (SEK 32 trillion) on healthcare each year, leading the world in breakthrough medical technology, while having the worst health outcomes in the OECD. While different on the surface, the US and Sweden are both struggling to manage an aging population through a combination of public action, private enterprise and technological innovation.

This talk will break down similarities and difference in how health care is paid for, delivered, and organized in the US and Sweden, with an emphasis on how different structures and incentives create opportunities for companies and entrepreneurs. Hospitals, physicians, regulations, payers and patient populations will all be covered, and time will be reserved for discussion/Q&A.

The speaker, Dr. Zayed Yasin, is an American Emergency Medicine specialist physician, researcher and entrepreneur with extensive experience in both the Swedish and American healthcare systems. Dr. Yasin trained at Harvard Medical School and Harvard Business School, and currently runs a boutique healthcare innovation firm.
