Description

COMPARE is a unique collaboration between the Universities of Birmingham and Nottingham that brings together leading researchers to develop novel methods for visualising single membrane proteins and to use these to identify new approaches for prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease and cancer angiogenesis.

The COMPARE Team Science Committee have put together an away day focussed on authorship and networking between members of COMPARE. This day will comprise of group activities, talks from experts, and a panel discussion on authorship.

This event is open to all early career researchers and technicians within COMPARE. We’d then like to invite the COMPARE PIs to join us for the closing comments and the subsequent discussions which will take place in the bar afterwards.

The away day will be held at the Old Ikon Gallery on Friday 18th May from 09:00-16:00 in Fazeley Studios, Birmingham.

Speakers confirmed include Prof. Jason Swedlow (Dundee University), a member from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and a panel comprising of an editor from Nature Communications, Tim Self (SLIM facility manager), and Prof. Steve Watson.

16:15-17:45 Bar for further discussions

18:00 Coach back to Nottingham from Fazeley Studios

For those coming from Nottingham, a coach will be reserved to transport members from Nottingham to the event in the morning, and will return at 18:00. Those members wishing to return after closing comments are welcome to take the bus in the morning but you will have to arrange your own travel back to Nottingham.
