Description

COMPANION PLANTING

The basics of organic gardening revolve around the idea of creating an ecosystem in which your vegetable and fruit plants can thrive without the need for added chemical fertilizers and pest control. Tarrant Area Food Bank’s Intensive Companion Planting workshop will help the backyard or community gardener graduate to an intermediate level of gardening by covering the following topics:

  • Companion planting - what to plant together and which combinations to avoid
  • Using crops for pest control
  • Encouraging pollinators
  • Trap crops
  • How to create a garden ecosystem

Since some of the topics covered in this workshop are more advanced, this event is a great fit for gardeners with a basic understanding of vegetable gardening. However, all gardeners are welcome to attend this free workshop provided by TAFB's Community Garden program.

We hope to see you there!

This workshop is intended for beginner-level gardeners ages 18 and over.

Workshops may be held outdoors. We suggest wearing layers of clothing that are suitable for the weather that you do not mind getting dirty and closed-toed shoes.
