Event description

Description

Keeping the Greenway clean and green for tens of thousands of people who cycle, run, walk, stroll, skate, scoot (and other modes!) isn’t easy! But with your help, together we can keep the Greenway litter-free and enjoyable for all!

Join us this season for Community Volunteer Days every 3rd Saturday, 10:00am – 12:00pm, from May – September!

May 18
June 15
July 20
August 17
September 21

Meet fellow community members, Greenway users, and a broad cross-section of Brooklynites who want to make a difference in our city! Tasks will include picking up litter and maintaining tree pits, planters, and planted areas. BGI will provide necessary tools and gloves (or bring your own gloves if you have some). Participants must wear closed-toe shoes and sign a participant waiver. Wearing comfortable clothing and bringing a water bottle and snacks is recommended.

If you’re interested in corporate volunteer opportunities, please contact Brian McCormick, Director of Development, at 718-522-0193 or bmccormick@brooklyngreenway.org.

BGI is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to the development, establishment and long-term stewardship of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway – a 26-mile protected and landscaped pedestrian and cyclist route that, when complete, will connect Brooklyn’s storied and iconic waterfront, parks and open space, commercial and cultural corridors, and new tech and innovation hubs for 2.65 million Brooklyn residents, over 1.1 million employees in Brooklyn, and 15 million annual visitors from across the City and around the world.
