This training oppportunity is hosted by Children's Advocacy Center of Bristol County.

Presented by National Association for Children of Addiction

Financial Sponsors: Southcoast Health and Youth Trauma Program, a program of JRI at the Fernandes Center for Children and Families of Saint Anne's Hospital

Registration starts at 8:30am. Training is from 9am - 5pm

CEU Applications pending for Social Work, LMHC, Nursing and Dept. of Ed PDPs

This can be a 1 or 2 day training. Attendance on day 1 is required to attend day 2.

Community Trauma Sensitivity Training

Who Should Attend: Youth serving professionals, child care providers, school personnel, DCF, law enforcement, mental health providers, and substance abuse treatment providers.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize ACEs and trauma and its impact in families with Substance Use Disorders (SUDs)

  • Describe the skill sets needed to work with the families and the parents.

  • Demonstrate ways to help parents struggling with trauma to become healthier parents.

Training Day 2 - October 24th, 2018

Children's Program Kit: Supportive Group Education for Children of Addicted Parents

*Attendance on day 1 is required to attend day 2*

Who Should Attend: Youth serving organizations who intend to implement supportive education for the youth served at their agency/program/school

Learning objectives

  • Understand underlying concepts and effective strategies to help meet the needs of children of parents with addiction.
  • Demonstrate the necessary skills for execution of the Children’s Program Kit and to facilitate groups.
  • Explain goals and outcomes for children who participate in the Children’s Program Kit as well as other resources for health and social service professionals, parents, guardians and others provided by NACoA for this population of children.
