Description

Community members, non-profit organizations and aspiring entrepreneurs are invited to our series of six sessions aimed at developing the talents our individuals in our community. All sessions are free to attend and will be held twice to ensure every interested person is able to attend. Sessions will be held on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Session 1: Identifying Your Vision, Audience & Inspirations

The session will cover the importance of developing a statement about your "why".

  • Tuesday, June 11th at 6 PM: MSU College of Human Medicine
  • Saturday, June 15th at 10 AM: Hasselbring Senior Center

Session 2: Getting Legal: Setting Up Your Organization

The session will cover the various options available to individuals looking to start a venture; for-profit business, non-profit organization and fiscal fiduciary.

  • Tuesday, June 25th at 6 PM: MSU College of Human Medicine
  • Saturday, June 29th at 10 AM: Hasselbring Senior Center

Session 3: Writing An "Ask Letter"

The session will prepare participants to ask for support; financial, labor and organizational.

  • Tuesday, July 9th at 6 PM: MSU College of Human Medicine
  • Saturday, July 13th at 10 AM: Hasselbring Senior Center

Session 4: Get Noticed - Promote Your Effort through the Press & Social Media

The session will show participants how to get more attention for their effort using the local media and social media.

  • Tuesday, July 23rd at 6 PM: MSU College of Human Medicine
  • Saturday, July 27th at 10 AM: Hasselbring Senior Center

Session 5: Letters of Support & Partnerships

The session will cover the importance of letters of support and partnerships to grant applications.

  • Tuesday, August 6th at 6 PM: MSU College of Human Medicine
  • Saturday, August 10th at 10 AM: Hasselbring Senior Center

Session 6: Finding Grants

The session will teach participants how to search for grants using publicaly available resources.

  • Tuesday, August 20th at 6 PM: MSU College of Human Medicine
  • Saturday, August 24th at 10 AM: Hasselbring Senior Center


MSU College of Human Medicine is located at 300 E 1st Street, Flint MI 48502. Across from the Flint Farmers Market. Hasselbring Senior Center is located at 1002 W Home Avenue, Flint MI 48505.
