Join Us For The Debut Of This Fall’s Collection From Cambridge Arts’ Community Supported Art

Be Part Of An Innovative New Way To Support Art-Making In Our City

Join us for the Harvest Party--Art, Demonstrations, Food, Music

Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Google Cambridge 355 Main St., Cambridge, Mass.

Admission is free, but RSVPs are required.

Join us for the debut of the 2017 art connection from Cambridge Art’s Community Supported Art program. It’s an innovative project designed to develop new markets for local artists.

Community Supported Art takes the model of buying a farm share to help support local agriculture and adapts it to supporting art-making in our community. Buy one of our shares and you get fresh, high-quality art at a reasonable price. Your purchase supports local artists, your neighbors, working right here in Cambridge. Which helps keep Cambridge creative. Learn more: http://bit.ly/2xn6HAZ

The Harvest Party will be the first chance to see the brand new 2017 art collection ranging from clay heads inspired by 3,000-year-old sculptures from the Aegean islands to handsome etchings of sunflowers to dazzling patterns of digitally-drawn faces by artists Nancy Beams, Cicely Carew, Nancy Hart, Boriana Kantcheva, Tanya Hayes Lee, Shin Maeng, Judith Motzkin, Hiroko Okahashi and Nina Pattek.

You’ll also be able to sample the art produced by our 2016 artists: Mireli Books, Marcia Cohen, Estelle Disch, Melissa Glick, Linda Haas, Janet Malenfant, Margarette Mattos, Anne Plaisance and Deidre Tao.

At the Harvest Party, artists will reveal their techniques during demonstrations beginning at 6:30 p.m. Nancy Beams will explain the centuries-old etching process, showing how she prepares the metal plates to create her sunflower prints. Melissa Glick, who was part of the 2016 Community Supported Art program, will show how she transforms bits of paper, wood and recycled machine parts into graphic assemblages.

At 7:15 p.m., Google Industry Director Brian Cusack and Cambridge Arts Executive Director Jason Weeks will speak about fostering innovation in technology and the arts.

Light food and refreshments will be served.

Get a glimpse into the world of Google as well as how Cambridge Arts is pioneering new ways of supporting art-making in our community.
