Come see short documentaries about local people, places, and happenings from across the Washington DC Metropolitan area. Come meet the filmmakers, some of the folks featured in the films, and celebrate community stories.

Sensei Fran Kicks Ass is the story of one woman’s pursuit to redefine what it means to age. Eighty year old Fran Vall is a master teacher of two Japanese martial arts, as well as skiing and snowboarding. She lives a very active life guided by her Jewish faith and quest to never stop learning.

Docs In Progress is all about building community through documentary film, but we are proud to be based in the vibrant, diverse, and historic communities of Silver Spring, Montgomery County, and the broader Washington DC Metropolitan Area. We have showcased short documentaries about these communities since 2010. Tonight's program screening is part of of the 10th Annual Community Stories Festival.
