About this event
Dr. Johnnetta Betsch Cole, pioneering educator, museum professional, advocate, and author is coming to Shasta College!
Join us on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 6:00 PM via Zoom for an engaging evaluation of the case for diversity and inclusion in American higher education, drawn from Dr. Cole's decades-long, award-winning career, followed by a Q&A session.
Dr. Cole has pioneered many firsts: she was the first African American to serve as the Chair of the Board of United Way of America, the first woman appointed to the board of Coca Cola Enterprises, the first African American female President of Spelman College, and the only person to serve as the president of both historically black colleges for women in the United States - Bennett & Spelman Colleges.
Dr. Cole also served as the Director of the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art for eight years, and is the current National Chair of the National Council of Negro Women - an advocacy organization with more than 2 million members focusing on women’s rights, civil rights, and education.
All students and community members are welcome to attend this FREE event.
Please Note: Zoom login info will be sent to all registered attendees two weeks prior to the event.
This event is part of the Community Speaker Series, a joint effort by the Shasta College Foundation, The McConnell Foundation, and the Women’s Fund of the Community Foundation of the North State.
