Please join us for an evening of singing together to nourish the soul and re-enchant the world with song.
Led by master songleader Laurence Cole along with assistant Aimee Ringle on tour from Port Townsend, Washington, you are invited to join us for an unforgettable evening of community singing.
Laurence leads group singing at festivals, fairs, conferences and nearly any place folks gather. He loves to facilitate the co-creation of beauty imbued with meaning through the medium of sound and rhythm, and to witness the delight that human beings find in such ecstatic engagement with each other.
Laurence writes and collects short, easy to learn, chant-like songs with several layers that fit over and around each other in interesting and pleasurable rhythmic and harmonic challenges that make them fun to sing. He believes group singing is one of the most ancient and primal “technologies of belonging” that we humans have been using since our earliest times, possibly before speech itself. He welcomes and works with all voices, no matter their experience or level of confidence, allowing even the shyest singer to find their place in the singing community.
Laurence lives in Port Townsend, Washington with his partner Deanna, where he serves as the co-director of PT Songlines Choir, which he founded nine years ago.
He writes, "When we make joyous and passionate song together, it nourishes our souls and offers an enlivening gift back to the natural world that made us and gives us our sustenance and our very being. When such an exchange is genuinely made, and the song finds its natural ending, often there is a sweet, lively silence in which we simply stand and hold the “enchantment,” the sense of deep and genuine communion amongst each other and with the whole living world."
