Description

OSSE's Division of Systems and Supports, K-12, in partnership with key stakeholders, kicked off the 2017-18 school year Community of Schools Community of Practice (CoP). The CoP will offer five sessions on a bi-monthly basis, running through May 2018, for all District of Columbia schools to receive training and technical assistance on creating and sustaining a community school.

The next topics of of discussion will consist of:

  • Role of the Community Schools Coordinator & Use of a Community Schools Advisory Board - focusing on the vital role of the Community School Coordinator in the life of a community school and the use of the community school advisory board with best practices shared. This session will take place on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, 1-2:30 p.m. at OSSE, Fourth Floor Room 4002.
  • Engaging Special Populations - discuss engaging special populations (e.g., English learners, minors who are undocumented and youth who are adjudicated). This session will take place on Thursday, March 8, 2018, 10-12 p.m. at the new OSSE location, Room 108.
  • Finance/Sustainability: Telling Your Story (May 2018) - further information available soon.
