Event description

Description

Multi-award winning UK journalist Matt Kelly has spent the last 20 years changing leading global news organisations - his approach is based on building new products that force organisational change.

Most recently he launched the newest newspaper in the UK, The New European - a “pop-up” pro-European weekly newspaper that was meant to last just four issues, but is now 80 issues old and profitable.

In this Gen-ONA masterclass on February, 8th, Matt will describe how news organisations often misunderstand what they do - and why entirely rethinking our raison d’être is the key to unlocking an organisation that can reconnect with its community

Matt Kelly is also the chief content officer at Archant, a major newspaper group in the UK. As publisher of the UK’s Daily Mirror portfolio of websites, he launched a string of successful new digital brands and products, including MirrorFootball.co.uk and 3am.co.uk, across a wide range of platforms.

An expert in digital strategy, newsroom structure and web design, he passionately believes the key to publishing success in the digital age is a blend of technology and editorial brilliance.

Matt Kelly is a Board member of the Global Editors Network.
