The graphic novel Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe has been the number one challenged book of 2022 and 2021. Kobabe has defended eir book, noting how beneficial it would have been for em at a younger age. The memoir continues to spark controversy. We shall have a mediated community discussion about the book itself, Kobabe's defense of it, and the bans of it.

This is a hybrid program. Please choose In-person or Virtual attendance when registering.

K is a hospice chaplain and textile artist. They have facilitated workshops for church groups that want to be more LGBTQIA2 inclusive but didn't know where to start, and they were on the diversity committee for the Embroiderers Guild of America. In undergrad they interned at the Milwaukee Gay Arts Center and The Alliance School, an alternative high school for LGBTQIA2 kids who had been bullied out of their regular school. In 2022 they gave two presentations at the Galena Public Library on the Alphabet Mafia and Non-binary Etiquette.
