Event description

Description

The Safe Out LGBTQ Youth Coalition is hosting Sonoran Prevention Works to provide a training of trainers for their Community Overdose Recognition, Response, and Naloxone Administration training. This Training of Trainers will be limited to 25 participants, so please reserve your seat today. Our goal is to help increase the capacity of LGBTQ-serving organizations to deliver this training to their staff, volunteers, and community members.

RSVP: This Training of Trainers is limited to 25 particpants. Please RSVP so we can get a count for the day, have enough materials, and can reach you to send out parking and location details. If you register but cannot make it, please cancel your ticket to open a space for someone else.

Fees: There is no cost for this training. Instead, we do ask that you consider bringing donations of cases of water; non-perishable pop-top food (e.g. packets of tuna or chicken; granola bars; individual bags of chips); socks; or disposable razors. On June 19 we will host Sonoran Prevention Works to deliver this workshop directly to the community at First Church UCC. Donations of food and water will be provided to First Church UCC, as they provide sack lunches and basic needs for 40-45 people per day Monday-Thursday.

More about this training: Naloxone (Narcan) is an easy-to-use medication that when administered in time, can prevent death due to opioid overdose. Common opioids include heroin, OxyContin, codeine, Percocet, and Vicodin.

Participants of this training will learn:

- The basics of Harm Reduction
