Community One Pot Challenge Participant Contest Rules

1. Contestant registration will begin on Friday September 27 , 2019 and close on Sunday October 20, 2019 (unless maximun entrants is reached before. There is no entry fee for this event other than the Fabulous Creation that is prepared to be shared. This event is open to the Community of the Greater Fort Walton Beach Area. This is an Amateur Event (Please No Professional Chefs/Cooks).

2. Entries will be accepted on a first come/first served basis but must meet all conditional requirements to be approved. Entrants submissions are not guaranteed official until a confirmation email is received that your entry has been accepted and approved.

A) To ensure competitor fairness, as well as the judges’ and event attendees’ safety, all cooks will be required to submit an abbreviated recipe for their Signature “One Pot" Dish to communitycookingme@gmail.com. Your entry must include your Name and Age. The recipes need to include the following: Recipe Title, Brief Description and a COMPLETE List of Ingredients. Recipes do not need to include instructions for recreating the dish.

B) All competitor entries should be original recipes and not the property rights of any third party that was copyrighted via digital or printed media.

C) Any competitor who has claimed a spot at the Community One Pot through a completed registration is expected to be present and to compete at the event. All competitors will consider online registration an honorary contract that will be considered firm. If for any reason the participant can not compete it would be appreciated that notice will be given at least (5) days before the event to ensure another person, the opportunity.

3. Number of Contestants will be limited to 45 that will be broken down into 3 separate age categories with 15 participants per category (In the event that there are not enough entries within a specific age group we will extend participant total other age groups to compensate for extra availability). If the maximum a mount of entries are reached in all categories a waiting list will be created for each category.

A) Youth Age 10 – 17

B) Open Age 18-49

C) Master Age 50 +

4. All food will be brought to Mary Esther UMC, 703 E. Miracle Strip Parkway, Mary Esther, FL 32569 at 3:00 pm and will meet the following cooking guidelines:

A) Item can be a Soup, Stew, Gumbo, Chili, etc. that is made in only One Pot or other cooking vessel (i.e., Crockpot, Insta-Pot, etc.)

B) Item must be delivered in a 1/2-size aluminum 4” disposable Chafing Pan, that is already warmed and ready to be placed in a preheated Chafing Dish. (Supplied by Church)

C) Entries may include any combination of ingredients, sauces, toppings and/or decor/garnishes. Every key food component must be placed together as a unified judging portion on the presentation dish, as well as represented appropriately in the sampling dishes. (2 oz. souffle cups, supplied by Church)

D) All contestants must be present during entire competition and be able to serve the guests samples of their creations throughout the entire event.

5. Judging and Prizes will occur as follows

A) Judging will begin at 3:30 pm.

B) 6 – 2oz Sampling cups will be prepared for each Judge

C) Communication between Judges will be kept at a minimum to ensure fairness and equal sampling time.

D) Judges will score the entries on a 30-point scale based on the following criteria

1 – 15 points Taste

1 – 10 points Appearance

1 – 5 points Originality

In the event of a tie, the participant who has the higher overall score in the taste will be declared the winner. If a tie still occurs, an alternate judge will make a final declaration.

E) Prize Baskets will be awarded to the winner of each of the (3) age categories, and one winner will be declared Grand Champion.

F) Prize Baskets include a vast combination of Restaurant and Retail Gift Cards, Merchandise, Tourist Destination Certificates, etc. (Minimum value of $350 each).

These rules are the sole property of Mary Esther UMC and we have not entered into any other agreement with any party.
