Join us for Community Innovations, a free speaker series that explores issues affecting social and economic mobility for families in the greater Mecklenburg County region. This year's event will be held at TIAA and there will be three dynamic panelists who will have insightful information on how they balanced rising in their careers and motherhood. The theme for this year is Working Your Way up the Corporate Ladder and Parenting.

Maxine Grandison is the director of Nuveen, a TIAA Company. She supports the investments and activities of Private Placements asset classes. Maxine joined the organization in 1995 and has 34 years of experience.

Michelle Comacho is the senior director of Institutional Retirement Plan Services (IRPS) at TIAA. She is a dedicated, transparent and strategic client facing change agent with over 30 years in the financial services industry.

Sheila Williams is the CEO/Founder of life, business, executive, and career development coaching company Williams Consulting LLC. Williams Consulting started out by helping elementary-age children with basic financial literacy and providing a second chance program to the youth held in juvenile detention centers. Now it is dedicated to empowering women and turning clients from dreamers to executors.

Directions for TIAA

A pre-security screening will be required to enter the TIAA campus. Once granted entrance to the campus, parking will permitted in any of the decks.




Maxine Grandison holds a B.A. in Finance from Bernard Baruch College and an M.B.A. in Financial Management from Pace University of New York. She loves the outdoors and especially likes camping. She frequently plans local camping trips; But every five years she visits Oshkosh, Wisconsin along with over 50,000 other camping enthusiasts to enjoy a week of amazing outdoor activities.

Michelle Comacho graduated Cum Laude from John Jay College of Criminal Justice with her bachelor’s degree in criminology and Magna Cum Laude with her master’s degree in criminal justice/sociology. Michelle also holds Series 6 and Series 26 FINRA licenses. She is a published author and in her spare time enjoys spending time with family, writing, reading, traveling, mentoring, and bowling.

Sheila Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in Management and Organizational Behavior, certifications in Life Coaching and Mentoring, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology. Her coaching style, focus, determination, commitment, and belief in her clients’ success are the keys in assisting them in reaching phenomenal levels of execution and taking their lives where they never thought they could.
