Description

Join us in creating a community development cocktail!

We are mixing knowledge, skills, experiences and techniques to create the best cocktail of useful tools for community development! We will help you grow personally, professionally, and we will inspire you on action!

We are four international fellows (through the Community Solutions Program implemented by IREX) from Cambodia, Myanmar (Burma), Bulgaria and Macedonia with world-class experience in
education, management, fundraising and storytelling. We will share knowledge, exchange ideas and provide a rich experience to help in your career development!

* Want to hear more about fundraising and gain tips and tricks on how to realize your project ideas even when limited funding is available?

* Are you leading an organization and/or a project and face immense growth all of a sudden? Do you know how to adjust to changes? Leaving your comfort zone and adjusting to the challenges will be an essential skill in 21th century - researches show.

* Do you work with youth who have fewer opportunities? Want to learn more about how to empower them using educational tools?

* And what about branding? You have a great idea, an amazing project you are working on, but what you should do to make your piece stand out?

All this and much more will be shared in the presentations. Fellows will share their personal experiences, and stories about some successful and not-so-successful moments (because we learn the most from our mistakes.) Here is the list of speakers:

1) Aung Zaw Moe, Myanmar: Alternative Fundraising Options for Community Based Organizations: Moving from Volunteering to Sustainability
2) Maria Ilieva, Bulgaria: Afraid to Grow? Being in the Comfort Zone Vs. Embracing Organizational Change Management
3) Kim Eng Chhun, Cambodia: Education as a Tool for Empowerment: Mentoring Youth with Fewer Opportunities
4) Ana Alibegova, Macedonia: Make Your Work Stand Out! Using Storytelling Techniques to Brand Yourself and Your Organization

After the brief presentations, we will have four “fireside talks”on the following topics:

- Althernative fundings
- Change management
- Youth empowerment
- Branding

Choose which discussion and round table you want to join. You will also have the chance to hear more about the topic, as well as present yourself and ask questions within the groups. After 20 minutes, the first round is closed, and the participants can explore another group.

During the event, participants can whiteboard their tips and tricks, as well as share know-how on the topics discussed. The recommendations will be diseminated to several non-profits and relevants stakeholders in DMV area. There will be time for networking.

Join us and let us bring more diversity, creativity and knowledge-exchange in the Gateway Arts District!
