Description

ABOUT THE SERIES

In Church Health’s Community Culinary Medicine Cooking classes, you’ll learn how to make meals that are as nutritious as they are delicious! Our curriculum is based on the nine principles of the Mediterranean Diet.

Each class includes:

  • Simple, healthful concepts you can practice in your own kitchen.
  • Strategies for meal planning and shopping on a budget.
  • Helpful information on how different foods and cooking techniques can help you eat well, get healthy and stay healthy!

Best of all, at the end of each class, we get to eat all the delicious dishes we cook!

HEALTH ASSESSMENT
This class series is part of a health assessment conducted by Church Health. This assessment measures the impact of the classes on the participant’s health over the course of a year. Participants will check in with the health assessment team before, 3, 6, and 12 months after the class series has completed. Each health check in will take no more than 1 hour to complete and will be scheduled for Saturday mornings. This will include a brief survey, height, weight, waist, blood pressure, and A1C measurement. You will receive a health card at each health check in to show your progress. Participation in the health assessment is required to attend the class.

Classes are each Tuesday, June 19 through July 31 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in Church Health’s Teaching Kitchen at Crosstown Concourse. Class will not meet the week of July 3, 2018.
