Community Conversations:

Series Three

Mayor Bieter would like to invite the entire community to sign up for the third round of Community Conversations.

During the first series held in June, citizens throughout Boise came together to engage in a productive conversation with their neighbors about what they love about Boise and their concerns for the City as we look to the future.

During the second series, residents played a first-hand role in tackling the four main themes that emerged in the first workshops: affordable housing, transportation, preserving what makes Boise special and governance/transparency.

This third round will dive deep into policies the city is exploring to address housing affordability throughout the city. Residents will provide feedback on the tools and techniques the city is considering.

The city will host two opportunities for the third series, Thursday November 29th at 6pm and Saturday, December 1st at 10am. Both workshops are open to all Boise residents and each session will include the same material, so you only need to sign up for one. We’ve expanded the capacity the workshops, so there should be plenty of room. In past workshops, everyone on the initial waitlist was accommodated.

The Saturday, December 1st will include Spanish translation services. Please click here to register for the Spanish translation by November 26th.

EVENT FORMAT

The city's Community Workshops will be loosely modeled on the World Cafe method.  Participants will be randomly assigned to tables and opportunities to ask questions and provide feedback will be available throughout the session. The feedback generated by participants will be aggregated and shared with the city.

Light refreshments and free onsite parking will be provided at both events.

We want to do our best to include as many people as possible in this discussion. Although we’ve expanded the capacity of these workshops registration is still on a first-come, first-served basis. If registration is full, please register for the wait list. We will add additional opportunities based on demand and will contact you when those opportunities become available.

FAQs

What can I expect?

The 3rd series will explore housing specific policies the city is considering to address housing affordability in all neighborhoods of the city. Participants will be presented with the policies, ask questions and provide feedback to the larger group while a notetaker documents key ideas and questions.

The city is employing the simultaneous translation of the content so those who have registered for the December 1st session will have headsets that will translate the presentations and discussions. Please register by November 26th that we can make sure we have enough headsets to accommodate the demand.

Is the content of the workshops the same or will it differ for each?

Both workshops will be the exact same format so please register for only one. We are offering two dates and locations to give participants the opportunity to attend whichever is most convenient.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking will be complimentary for both workshop dates. However, the parking details will differ slightly for each event. Specific details for each event will be communicated via email prior to the date.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

There is no minimum age requirement for this event. Children or teens are welcome to attend, but please keep in mind the format and length of the event.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
