Event description
Join us for a conversation about ways we can make Portland more affordable and accessible to creatives and entrepreneurs.

About this Event

Join Sarah Iannarone, Portland mayoral candidate and small business founder, and Ciara Pressler, Founder and CEO of Pregame, for a conversation about ways we can make Portland more affordable and accessible.

Creatives, entrepreneurs, and small business owners are the heart and soul of Portland and a major driver in our economy. Designers, musicians, chefs, actors, writers, artists and countless other innovators and creatives — along with their independent accountants, hair stylists, and bike mechanics— make Portland the wonderful place it is to work, live, and play that we all love.

But Portland as a place where “anything is possible” is increasingly out of reach; many in our community have never even had access to the synergies of Portland’s “innovation ecosystem.” In this conversation, we’ll put our heads together to brainstorm ways we can support diversity, inclusivity, and access for Portlanders trying to make a go of it— creating art and culture, starting new businesses, and growing existing ones. How can we ensure that people who have not always been central in these activities due to gender bias, racism, spatial inequality and other systems of oppression are supported and thrive through our policies and investments?

This is a discussion about economic development and prosperity, about diversity and inclusion, about a sustainable economy and urban vitality. But most importantly, its a conversation about the kind of city we want Portland to be and how we can make that vision a reality.

Hosts: Sarah Iannarone, candidate for Portland mayor and small business founder; Ciara Pressler, Founder & CEO of Pregame
