What is a "Community Conversation"?
Community Conversations help to build knowledge and understanding on the issues that impact us most as a community. By gathering and having facilitated conversations on hot topics, we can build the most relevant framework of data analysis for the 2023 Squamish Vital Signs Report.
What is "Vital Signs"?
Vital Signs uses local knowledge and data to measure the vitality of our community, to create conversations, and to encourage collective action. Spearheaded by the Community Foundations of Canada, the Squamish Community Foundation (SCF) produces a Vital Signs report every three years (prior to COVID-19). We are in the data collection phase for the 2023 Vital Signs Report, set to be released in May. The Vital Signs survey is now available - we encourage you to submit your information.
Why should I join the conversation?
As a data-driven document, the Vital Signs Report is a powerful knowledge tool that can be used by many agencies (non-profits, organizations, businesses, realtors, local government, etc.) to provide localized information on issues that are important to Squamish citizens, to support grant and funding applications with pertinent data, to empower individuals, and encourage collective action. Insight from the local community is essential to ensure inclusivity and efficacy in data collection.
Who attends the Community Conversation?
We encourage any and all Squamish residents to attend this conversation and share ideas on issues that are affecting our town. For example, we'll discuss housing, the labour force, health and wellness, steps towards Truth and Reconciliation, and much more.
Squamish Community Foundation humbly acknowledges that we work and live on the unceded ancestral territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw, Squamish Nation.
Vital Conversations are supported by the Leith Wheeler Investment Councel.

About the organizer
Established in 2003, the Squamish Community Foundation is an independent, charitable organization dedicated to enriching the quality of life for community members in Squamish. We facilitate philanthropy by partnering with donors and connecting them with community causes they value. As a Community Foundation, our focus is on building permanent endowments that address long-term community challenges as well as immediate needs. From the income earned on over $1 million in endowment funds, we invest grants in people, groups, and community impact. With projects like Vital Signs we are also working to build community knowledge, engagement, and leadership.
