Event description

Description

The St. George Library Center and West New Brighton Libraries are proud to present a three month series of community conversations discussions geared towards engaging our neighbors, discussing issues that matter to us and having a few cups of coffee together. Each month we will be discussing a different aspect of the topic.

November 15th @ 5:30 PM: St. George Library Center
Drug Use in Our Community

December 20th @ 5:30 PM: West New Brighton Library
Coffee Talk Progress
We will be tracking some of the issues that have been previously discussed at our first session and opining on any changes that have been made. Are we making good progress? What else can be done?

January 17 @ 5:30 PM: St. George Library Center
Session Wrap-up
Patrons will discuss the safety issues that have been discussed and worked on during Coffee Talk sessions. And, we will be designing a new discussion for the spring Coffee Talk series.

Patrons are encouraged to think about the local issues that affect safety in the St. George/West New Brighton communities, as well as Staten Island as a whole and bring them in for discussion. Be the change you want to see in your community!

About Community Conversations:

The brand new Community Conversations initiative at The New York Public Library introduces a space for discussion on local topics that matter most to you. Local librarians at select branches will co-facilitate these dialogues with community organizations, inviting anyone and everyone to the table to share and listen. Let’s create a truly democratic space where we can connect together through meaningful dialogue! Learn more and browse all of our conversations here.
