Nurses for Newborns' hope is to build collaborations with area organizations and providers focused on the common goal of reducing the number of infant deaths, child abuse and neglect throughout Middle Tennessee.

Meeting Space and Coffee: Generously provided by our friends at the Catholic Pastoral Center of Charities of Tennessee. We will be meeting in the Spirit Room of the Catholic Pastoral Center. Please enter the building through Door #4 on the west side of the building.

Nurses for Newborns Staff will be onsite from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM to share information about NFN with you and your colleagues. A brief presentation will begin at 10:15 AM.

NFN’s mission is to provide a safety net for families most at-risk in order to prevent infant mortality, child abuse and neglect by providing in-home nursing visits that promote healthcare, education, and positive parenting skills. Our prevention-based home visitation program uses registered nurses to serve high-risk families, such as medically fragile babies (e.g., infants born premature, drug exposed (NAS) or experiencing failure to thrive, congenital anomalies or birth complications), mothers with medical, mental health, or substance abuse concerns, and teenage parents in peril.

Our vision as an agency is that families of all babies will receive the healthcare, education, and support they need so that every baby will be healthy, safe, and nurtured in their home and able to fulfill their full potential. It is our desire to foster relationships with organizations, like yours, to to better provide our prevention-based support to families in Davidson County and around Middle Tennessee.

Nurses for Newborns of Tennessee

Nurses for Newborns was founded by Sharon Rohrbach, RN, and Robin Kinney in the early 1990’s. Sharon was a nurse in a St. Louis, Missouri critical care nursery.   She was frequently called to the hospital’s emergency department to address life-threatening illness in the infants who had just been discharged a few days earlier. Her vision was to start an organization of registered nurses that would make home visits to provide medical assessment of the infants and education for parents. It was Robin’s vision to help people who are living in poverty that served as the catalyst for the creation of this agency. We have stayed true to that mission, nearly 100,000 families later.
