Join us just in time for Hispanic Heritage Month for a discussion on ways we can come together as a community and promote equality in all aspects of ours lives. We’re committed to doing our part to build an inclusive community where everyone has an equal opportunity to live a prosperous life, fulfilling life.

We will be discussing "Being Latinx In Tech" and what that actually means. From employee resource groups (ERGs), community and relationship building, and issues the Latinx community faces working within the tech sector. Let's open the lines of communication to begin to strategize to bridge the diversity gap.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS ☕

Juan Baquero is the General Manager & Owner at Baquero Translations which is one of the top ten Language Service Providers in Latin American and the Caribbean Juan has been passionately involved in the translation business for more than 20 years, I aim at effectively facilitating communication between cultures. He was formerly the General Manager (owner) at Texo SRL, an ATA Certified Translator, Simultaneous Interpreter (ES EN), is SDL Trados Certified, a Certified International-Spanish Language Editor (LITTERAE) and a University Professor.

Maria Landrau, Senior Product Marketing Manager at ADT, has focused her career in the product marketing and product management field focusing in diverse industries including consumer goods, mobile applications and IOT. She has worked at ADT for the last 5 years in bringing the latest in smart home technology to market. She takes great pride being able to deliver products that makes people’s everyday lives safer and more convenient.

Andres Urdaneta, Frontend Developer at Miami Dev Shop and recent Wyncode Academy graduate (2019). He is a creative-oriented and passionate web developer with both front-end and back-end skills committed to add value by making an impact through teamwork collaboration and Agile Methodology. Andres is an avid reader and entrepreneur that believes that reading has helped him become both a Venezuelan Laywer and a Web Developer in the USA. He has won the “Future Leaders of Miami Tech Fellowship 2019” by Knight Foundation and Microsoft to later on found BiscayneDevs.

Abel Hernandez, Product Manager at Codal and General Assembly alum, worked in the TV and Music Industry in Los Angeles as an Audio Engineer for 15 years. After growing frustrated with the lack of new opportunities around the Hollywood studio scene, he began to explore a new career path in web development. In March of 2015, he enrolled in General Assembly's part-time Front-End course, and later that summer decided to change careers and enrolled in the Web Development Immersive Bootcamp. After one month, he received his first job offer as a Front-End and Hybrid mobile app developer for a start-up in the Luxury Transportation space. Towards the end of 2016, he transitioned from Web Development to Product Manager for PrettyLitter and Next Management Partners in Santa Monica. Since the summer of 2017, he has worked remote as a digital nomad in Europe and Asia. For the past 17 months, he has worked full time for a Chicago based Web Development and UX Design agency while living in Palm Beach County, also travelling to train and collaborate with their teams in England and India.
