March's Community Cinema film is Wonder Women: The Untold Story of the American Superheroines. The documentary traces the fascinating evolution and legacy of Wonder Woman and looks at how popular representations of powerful women often reflect society’s anxieties about women’s liberation.
After the film, we'll discuss Wonder Women and superheriones with the go! go! global girls, a "reverse-reality web series about the human girl animal as she learns to channel her imagination for planetary good. Whatever that means."
Let your inner superheroine or hero show and come dressed as either your favorite comic character, or your own heroic invention. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.
Community Cinema is a free monthly screening series presents fascinating documentaries from the Emmy-Award winning PBS series Independent Lens followed by lively discussions that connect films to local organizations and resources.
