About this event
This session will provide an overview of stuttering assessment and treatment strategies for preschool and school-age children. Practical strategies for targeting all aspects of stuttering will be discussed through the use of a community-centered approach. Participants will be able to discuss case scenarios for real-world application.
Time Ordered Agenda:
5:30-5:35pm: Introduction
5:35-5:55pm: Stuttering Background Information
5:55-6:30pm: Stuttering Assessment
6:30-7:15pm: Stuttering Treatment
7:15-7:30pm: Case Scenarios
Upon course completion, participants will be able to:
1. Discuss assessment and treatment strategies using the framework of the International Classification of Functioning (ICF)
2. Identify risk factors for young children who stutter
3. Discuss strategies to target the affective, behavioral, and cognitive aspects of stuttering
Craig Coleman is the Associate Dean of the College of Health Sciences at Pennsylvania Western University (Edinboro, Clarion, and California, PA campuses). He is a Board-Certified Specialist in Fluency Disorders. Craig also currently serves as the Vice President of Planning for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
