Session 3

How to Sessions (Breakout)

  • Event Planning for Community Engagement: Learn the process of event planning and how to create an opportunity to become an active participant in your community. From planning a block party to hosting a neighborhood garage sale, this session will demonstrate how an event can connect community members while providing a breakdown of logistics and planning details.

  • Project-Based Grant Writing: Want to see change in your community, but don't know how to fund it? Deepen your understanding for how to write successful grant proposals for neighborhood projects.

  • Political Involvement: For those who want to affect change on a policy level, this session will walk through some concrete steps to take meaningful action on important issues. Activism doesn't have to be intimidating-- start with registering to vote, contacting officials, and how to find the right information on your issue.

Session 4

How to Sessions (Breakout)

  • Social Connectedness: Learn strategies for building relationships with your neighbors-- including welcoming those who are new to the community, navigating conversations, and planning events that lead to great neighborhoods.

  • Schools + Neighborhoods: Schools are an important institution and a hub of activity for neighborhoods. Attend this session to discuss how to foster healthy connections between schools and communities, and hear from a local school leader on how she made this happen.

  • Volunteer to Leader You got people to help out with your neighborhood event, yay! How can you work with these wonderful volunteers to get them from "helping out" to taking ownership of strengthening their community? Join us as we discuss strategies for keeping volunteers motivated and developing their leadership potential within community-based projects.
