Event description

Description

Social enterprise (SE) has become a hot topic in the CED field and interest continues to grow. In recent years, CED organizations across the state have established successful SEs that create jobs and build wealth, while providing needed services and goods in their communities. There is incredible potential in this emerging field, but CED practitioners must also understand the inherent risks and challenges.

Join CCEDA and CED practitioners for a daylong session on how SEs can augment and support community-based work. Panel discussions and workshops will explore how successful SEs operate, how to determine when a SE makes sense, funding opportunities, and best practices from funders and leading SE practitioners in the field.

This session is designed to inform community-based organizations and foster discussions among CED practitioners. It will include an overview of how social enterprises operate, key concepts to consider in business planning, legal structures, and business management. CED practitioners will present detailed case studies to contextualize challenges, opportunities, and successes.
