Q&A

What is Communications Breakdown Boot Camp (CBBC)?

Communications Breakdown: Boot Camp (CBBC) is a one day communications experience for professional communicators to sharpen their pencils on what tools and tactics are working best, today. Fewer industries are changing more quickly than communications and CampSight’s one-day Boot Camp will get attendees caught up on the very latest trends, tactics and strategies to help them excel in their jobs.

Who should go to CBBC?

Professional-grade communicators who want to make sure they’re current on what’s working and what’s not anymore. This is for people who deploy communications skills every day to do their jobs and want to up their game. We won’t explain what a hashtag is. We won’t talk about the basics of a press release. CBBC picks up long after school let out.

Where and when is this, anyway?

We’re holding CBBC on January 15, 2020 at the NC State McKimmon Center in Raleigh, NC. It’s a conference work-horse with plenty of parking and easy access.

And, yes, we picked Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday intentionally (the holiday is Monday, his actual birthday is the 15th). Dr. King was one of our country’s great communicators and we’ll kick off the day with a nod to the critical conversations his legacy inspires.

What’s the schedule going to look like?

After coffee and an a.m. con-fab session, attendees will all hear a morning keynote and then break out into roll-up-your-sleeves work-sessions. We'll meet in smaller groups to problem solve individual needs over lunch and then learn from a roundtable of reporters and professional communicators, before splitting off again for more work sessions designed to get to the grit of how good communications get done these days. Then we'll wrap up the day with a networking social (libations included).

Who will be speaking at CBBC?

We’ve enlisted a host of reporters, communicators and industry experts and we are thrilled to announce our keynote: Tru Pettigrew. Tru’s life mission is to spearhead the kinds of critical conversations around race that are the only way for us to work through our history and (mostly) hidden prejudices. Click here to learn more about Tru Pettigrew and listen to him on the third episode of the Communications Breakdown podcast (available on Apple, Spotify and Stitcher). Other speakers/teachers are being finalized now. We’ll definitely keep you posted on who will be at the head of the classrooms!!

Who is behind CBBC?

CBBC is hosted by our team at CampSight Strategic Communications. If you want, check out another first: Communications Breakdown: Podcast. It’s a smaller, digital version of CBBC where we look at different corners of the world through the lens of communications.

Why are we putting this on?

Education is part of our mission at CampSight Strategies. It’s a through-line for all of our team members and something that we believe in to our core. The world, if you haven’t noticed, seems to be going off the rails a little. Whatever solutions we come up with, communications will be critical. The problem is, everything moves so fast these days and the skills we need as communicators change so frequently, even professional communicators need the occasional booster-shot; this is just that. CBBC is the kind of continuing education that will help the very best communicators among us get even better.

How many people can attend and how much will it cost?

We have space for 100 people and we expect spots to go fast! Tickets cost $75 but are available now at an early bird price (until Nov 30) of $50. Don’t wait!!

Are there sponsorship opportunities?

Of course! Tons. Contact CampSight Founder Jon Camp at jon@campsightstrategies.com to learn more.
