Event description

Description

Stop avoiding the inevitable and step up your conflict skills

That was direct wasn't it? Join us in Vancouver to take a journey through conflict styles and how to work more effectively with others who may not be quite like you (darn it). As part of this one day session receive a personalized Conflict Style & Strengths Assessment that helps deepen awareness around the values that drive your preferred communication style.

While the program is about conflict, you'll focus on communicating clearly and honestly so that further conflict doesn't occur. We've all experienced different forms of conflict, we call it; Big "C" conflict and small "c" conflict. In your day to day work, the majority of challenges come from avoiding the small conflicts that bubble up. In this program increase your skill to express your perspective and seek a shared outcome.

While heading home from work, do you ever have conversations in your head about the things you didn't say in person?

In your organization, does the "real meeting" happen in the hallway after the actual meeting? Have you ever thought or said any of the following:

  • If they just admitted they were wrong.

  • It's not that I need to be right, even though I'm right.

  • If I had time, I'd be honest with them but...

  • I'll talk to them next time.

  • They don't know how to communicate.

  • Why would someone DO that?

This program might be for you. With a diverse group of leaders, explore your strengths as a communicator, and why you do the things you do when you're in conflict. After attending this program you'll walk away with an action plan to increase trust in your relationships and new skills in adapting your behaviour to support stronger relationships and perhaps your sanity.

A light breakfast and lunch is included in the day, so we can take the time to grow our own networks and meet new people.

During this program you will

  • Receive a personalized conflict assessment valued at $175*
  • Explore your personal values and communication style
  • Deepen your awareness of conflict styles and behaviours
  • Practice empathetic listening around conflict situations
  • increase your trust capacity and skillset
  • Broaden your communication toolkit when it comes to conflict

*Please note the assessment will be sent in advance to be completed and shared during the program.

Conflict Coaching Add On

For select participants that want to take their learning a step further, you can choose the workshop and coaching ticket option. This fee includes a one hour post-program personalized debrief of your conflict assessment and coaching towards your action plan and goals. It's over a 50% discount from Elaine's standard coaching fees and a great opportunity for those who want to tackle a specific personal challenge and experience coaching.

What clients say about Elaine

"Participants knew they could count on her for fun and innovative ways to grow and learn invaluable lessons that would support them in the program and beyond." Eric Unmacht

"Elaine was not quick to suggest solutions and/or answers to my growth opportunities, but she helped me develop a long lasting framework for continued analysis and iterative improvement in my quest to become a better, stronger creative leader in my personal and professional life." Mo Asgari

"Elaine's dynamic and receptive facilitation style created an honest and encouraging space for both discovering and questioning. Elaine's strong understanding of group dynamics and the unpredictable nature of values based work came through as she quickly, and creatively, adjusted to the challenges presented by a group of strong leaders with varying world views." Amanda Koyama

What should we prepare or expect?

Come to the day well-rested, with distractions put aside. This will be an intense day of thinking, doing, discussion and reflection, and will require much energy. This is a devices-off workshop—please bring us your full focus and attention. It will be worth it!

In advance of the workshop, you'll complete the SDI Conflict Assessment and receive the detailed report during the workshop.

The price of your ticket includes a light breakfast and a delicious catered lunch. Sharing a meal together is our favourite way to connect and reflect on the day’s learning.

This event will be hosted at The Home, an extraordinary space designed from the ground-up to foster big picture thinking and renew creativity.
