About this event
Three interactive professional development workshops in communicating scientific knowledge to peers and colleagues at meetings, symposia, and conferences. These workshops are open to anyone interested in learning formal skills of writing and presenting scientific research. If you are currently working on a research project or plan to present your work in the near future, you will be able to immediately apply the skills you will learn in this workshop.
Each 120-minute workshop in focused on one of the following:
- Fundamentals of Writing Abstracts (01/19/2023): Summing up your research in 200 words;
- Creating Scientific Posters (02/16/2023): Elements of a successful poster to get your message seen and understood;
- Crafting Oral Presentations (03/16/2023): Engaging your audience with focused oral presentations
After each workshop, participants will have the opportunity write abstracts, create draft talks or posters, and receive feedback from the instructors.

Details
The 2023 workshops will be facilitated by Aaron Ellison and Manisha Patel.
The three sessions will be on January 19, February 16, and March 16 at 2:00pm US Eastern Time. All sessions will be done live via Zoom video-conferencing.
Participation is limited to 20 people to allow for small-group interactions. Additional session times may be added if there is enough demand.
You can earn 0.5 continuing education credits (CEU) for each workshop toward Professional Certification with the Ecological Society of America.
