Event description

Description

Jerry Seinfeld is famous for commenting that the average American fears public speaking more than death. He said, “That means we would rather be in the casket than doing the eulogy!” Don’t be one of those people - it could undermine your career. So...can you WOO with the best of them? WOO stands for Winning Others Over to your ideas and opinions using relationship-based, emotionally intelligent persuasion. In this workshop you will learn the core skills cultivating your WOO. Every participant will practice - either in their seat or up in front of the room - to embed the learning. We start with current examples from TED Talks, Davos, and SXSW conferences and unpack what makes a speaker or communicator compelling and persuasive. We then practice the Big Five communication skills: 1. Posture 2. Body Language 3. Gestures 4. Voice 5. Pacing Throughout the program, participants give and receive feedback. Everyone leaves with improved skills and a commitment to continue on the journey of powerful and persuasive communication. Barbara Roche has her own coaching and workplace learning business, and teaches leadership communication at The Wharton School. This program is sponsored by Bank of America.
