Event description

Description

You're in the Outdoor City now, comms person, and that means you can work off (or up to) that CommsCamp cuisine the Sheffield way with a reyt healthy run around some of the city's amazing urban landscape and take a tour of some of the city's movie and TV history while you're on the move.

Ever wanted to run through the grimy industrial heart of Sheffield, spotting sights such as the canal where Robert Carlyle balanced atop a car in The Full Monty? Or perhaps see for yourself the very kebab shop where the “terrorists” of Four Lions plotted away? Or jog past City Sauna, home to Channel Four’s “A Very British Brothel”?

Of course you haven’t. Why would you? But you’ll get the chance nonetheless at this year’s Commscamp North Runch (running lunch), taking in the Steel City’s most insalubrious sights of film and television.

Leaving Kelham Island Museum at the start of the lunch break, the Runch will follow a flat and easy route along the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal, the River Don, and various gritty hotspots in between. The run will be around four miles long and paced for the steadiest members of the group, with photo-stops along the way.

Run leader (and Sheffield City Region comms manager) Jeni Harvey will have you back at Kelham Island in plenty of time to rejoin the afternoon activities - and eat some well-deserved cake.

Want to take part? If nothing else, it’ll earn you an extra slice of cake.
