Common Core, Inc. Math Curriculum Professional Development

March 18-19, 2014 for grades K-5

March 20-21, 2014 for grades 6-9

A Story of Units, Common Core-aligned curriculum for K-5

Although the Common Core Learning Standards specify what students should master at each grade level, many teachers are still seeking curricular resources to support their standards-aligned instruction.

A Story of Units is a new, PK-5 curriculum written for teachers, by teachers, and made freely available for use at EngageNY.org.  Recently recognized by Achieve.org as an exemplary curriculum, the lessons in A Story of Units address fluency, application, and conceptual understanding in a manner that is compliant with the instructional shifts called for by the CCLS.

In this two-day institute, we will examine the instructional focus for a sequence of modules at each grade, K-5, in order to illustrate how the CCLS can be brought to life in the classroom.  These sessions will include the study of selected lessons as well as an examination of how mathematical concepts are developed across the span of a module.

This institute is appropriate for instructional coaches and classroom teachers, whether they are currently implementing A Story of Units or seeking additional curricular resources for the upcoming year.

A Story of Ratios and A Story of Functions, Common Core-aligned Curriculum for 6-9

Although the Common Core Learning Standards specify what students should master at each grade level, many teachers are still seeking curricular resources to support their standards-aligned instruction.

A Story of Ratios (6-8) and A Story of Functions (Starting in grade 9) are new curricula written for teachers, by teachers, and made freely available for use at EngageNY.org.  These lessons are developed to embody the instructional shifts called for by the CCLS.

In this two-day institute, we will examine the instructional focus for a sequence of modules at each grades, 6-9, in order to illustrate how the CCLS can be brought to life in the classroom.  These sessions will include the study of selected lessons as well as an examination of how mathematical concepts are developed across the span of a module.

This institute is appropriate for instructional coaches and classroom teachers, whether they are currently implementing A Story of Ratios and A Story of Functions or seeking additional curricular resources for the upcoming year.
