Event description

Description

In 2016, SD DOE and SDEA began the process of creating common assessments, aligned to state standards. DOE did work in math and science and they have assessments available for free download on their website. SDEA did work in the areas of English language arts--writing and in social studies. Our assessments will be available sometime during the spring of 2017. This summer we want to continue the work by creating additional common assessments in other subjects or grades or over standards not previously covered. This session will cover the areas of middle school math, K-12 art, and K-12 music. If you teach or are certified to teach one of these areas, this session is for you.

  • Work with other teachers in your content area to choose one or more state standards to assess, and create an assessment that would work for any teacher who teaches the content area/standards.
  • Earn a graduate credit (pending through USF) or 15 CEU hours.
  • SDEA Members earn a $125 stipend.
  • Create an assessment blueprint, learn to write quality test items with fidelity, learn how to create balanced rubrics aligned to standards.
  • Enhance your SLO process.
  • Two, 6 1/2-hour day sessions, plus 2 hours for assignment work = 15 hours
  • Assignments--Your content area team will collectively submit the following: 1. completed assessment blueprint; 2. completed accompanying assessment; 3. SLO Process Guide using the assessment you create, with blanks left for any teacher to customize for their own class.
  • All work due by July 21. 2017.Assessment Creation Process Graphic
