Event description

Description

PARTY LIKE IT'S 1867!

Let's go all out to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday — come laugh your toque off while you celebrate all things Canada! We'll have Crunchie bars and Coffee Crisps, the Canadian anthem (sung by Doug "Anthem Guy" Allen!) and those Olympic mittens, and you can even take your photo with Justin Trudeau! Canoes and moose, eh?

Your admission includes two drink tickets* to get you started, and come hungry, because Rob's donates 10% of food and drink sales in the comedy club to our cause! There will be a unique basket raffle, a 50/50, and a wine pull. Then, to make you all comfortable again, we will have a live auction featuring two of your favourite Americans: Jimmy Carter (signed book) and Jack Eichel (signed jersey). The coup de grâce is our final live auction item, a lobster dinner for 8 on the Canadian shores of Lake Erie (mutually agreed-upon summer date), donated by Jan and Barry Barrett. Come ready to bid!

And don't forget — at 8.00 we treat you to a full show with some of the funniest comics in the area and a "killer headliner" (Rob's words)!

Then comes the hard part: Suzanne will be building one of 75 houses in Edmonton, AB with President and Mrs. Carter in July. Habitat Edmonton turns away nine families for every 10 that apply, and this major project will try to chip away at that need.

The Carter Work Project will build 150 houses across Canada for Canada's Sesquicentennial. Suzanne has paid to cover the cost of her meals and lodging — everything raised will benefit Habitat Canada to complete these and future builds.

*Well Drinks, Draft Beer, Wine, Pop, and Coffee

FAQs

Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?

No, but we can't be responsible for the new words that attendees under 18 might learn. From Cathy. Seriously. Priest now, sailor in a former life.

What is the dress code?

Pretty casual. I mean, not flip-flop casual — we're not the White House — but hockey jerseys are encouraged, as are plaid flannel shirts and toques. Extra credit will be given for mullets.

What are my parking options?

Rob's Comedy Playhouse is located inside of Dandelion's Restaurant, and there is a gi-mondo parking lot next to/behind it. Point of interest — the medical offices at the way back of the parking lot used to be a movie theatre, where Suzanne first saw Raiders and Star Wars. #GoodTimes

How much money should I bring?

Basket raffle tickets are 3 sheets for $20; there's going to be a cool door prize so you're gonna wanna grab a few of those because you get one door prize ticket on each. The 50/50 tickets go for $10 for a strip — that seems kinda cheap so make sure you buy more than one. The wine pull will be $20 apiece for a decent bottle of wine, so grab a couple of those. And then bring a chequebook for the live auction, because you know you want that lobster dinner for 8! So that's 20, and OK another 20, and... well, you figure it out. If we could do math, we wouldn't need Eventbrite to hold the money for us.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

E-mail Suzanne at homesathome@mac.com. Not even just with questions. Just e-mail her. She's got all kinda time and sometimes she feels neglected.
