Comedy Night - One Night StandUp
Sat, October 15, 2016, 6:30 PM – 11:30 PM AEST
Your MC for the night, Dusty Rich...
A comedic space-warrior riding a living volcano with one hand whipping the reins and the other gingerly fingering the lava-hot truth that flows freely down all sides – is smothering the world in comedy magma.
His meteoric rise in the Comedy Industry is due to the fact he had learnt to ride meteors at a very young age – a mind meteor, smashing through the atmosphere of mediocre and mundane. Each show is unpredictable and hilarious, leaving audiences gasping for air.
A true original, his style is manic but impactful. The mystical art of comedy bursts through his veins (and mouth) coupled with his razor sharp wit, taking no prisoners. Dusty Rich is, without question, an unnaturally naturally talented comedic anomaly.
Whether he’s in a suit and tie, earning that corporate cashola; in a vest and beard rousing everyone at a comedy club, or loud as rock ‘n roll in front of five thousand strong, he has to be seen to be believed.
With an opening act from funny man-boy Sam Bowden
Sam Bowden is a funny man-boy whose average looks contradict well with his above-average jokes. After recently supporting the likes of Danny Bhoy and Brian Posehn, come watch his ego continue to inflate as he does the world’s greatest job of comedy.
The nights supporting act, Mel Buttle
Originally from Brisbane, she has been performing on the live comedy circuit across the country for years. As well as live performance, she is a seasoned writer with a weekly column in The Courier Mail, writing on ABC2 and Pivot TV’s award winning Please Like Me, and Network Ten’s This Week Live.
You may have seen Mel appearing on Network Ten’s The Project and This Week Live or on ABC TV’s Tractor Monkeys, Back Seat Drivers or It’s A Date. In 2015, Mel found out she can have her cake and eat it too scoring the job of co-host on The Great Australian Bake Off for Foxtel’s LifeStyle Channel alongside her friend Claire Hooper and judges Maggie Beer and Matt Moran. Bake Off will be back this year with a second season.
And our headliner for the night, no other then mr Rob Brown..
After hitting the stage in 2003, Rob Brown has become one of Australia's leading stand-up comedians.
Rob’s satirical, cheeky, out of the box views on the world comes from a very interesting past. From experiences growing up in a caravan park, working for over a decade as a prison officer in maximum security prisons, his time training security services in Iraq and Afghanistan, his family life - children, and marriage, and more (it is questionable which is more dangerous).
Some have described Rob's comedy as edgy and direct while others, call him conventionally unconstrained, however all agree Rob is extremely funny and a welcome distinction to the comedy scene. Rob’s ability to think on his feet and improvise is the best in the game. Rob Brown quickly earns the right to go to those uncomfortable places and in his wickedly clever and funny way, leaves the audience overwhelmed with laughter and wanting more.
With headlined performances in Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, UK and performances in the US, Rob can truly be called an international act.
