Join us for a tasty evening of wine samples from the Italian region of Campania and some bites!
Join us at the ICCC for a night on the Amalfi Coast on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 7:00 pm; the first edition of 2017 of our wine tasting series Come Wine with Us, which debuted in June of 2016. It will offer a selection of wines from the Southern Italian region of Campania presented by Carlos A. Flores from Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits, and these wines will be paired with Amalfi Ristorante Chef Giancarlo Ferrara’s delicious bite-size creations.
Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a one-of-a-kind tasting experience through the exploration of the cultural, environmental, historical and social context of these regional wines, paired with bites inspired by culinary traditions from Campania.
This event is hosted by the Italian Cultural & Community Center, in collaboration with Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits and Amalfi Ristorante.

Carlos A. Flores (Wine presenter from Southern Glazer's):
Carlos A. Flores was born in Mexico City; the University of Houston became his alma mater as he pursued a B.A. in International Business. He encountered wine as he worked in prestigious restaurants in Houston. It was at Café Annie where wine picked his interest and made a life altering decision to study wine. In his own words: “Wine is the study of unique cultures, traditions and geography, understanding the hands that craft the romantic peruse of beauty”. He was mentored by Robert del Grande and Paul Roberts MS. Carlos received his Certification as a Sommelier by the Court of Masters Sommelier in 2006. He worked as a Sommelier at Vic and Anthony’s, Perry’s Steakhouse and Karisma Resorts (Caribbean) where he was the Corporate Beverage Director. He joined Southern Glazer’s in 2010 where he is the Italian Wine Specialist. He is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, English, and currently enrolled in Italian Language Classes.

Influenced by his culinary family, Giancarlo finished first in his class at Centro Professionale Alberghiero in Salerno and his appreciation for quality, local, and seasonal food grew as well, following him in each of his culinary ambitions and becoming the cornerstones for his menus. Amalfi's menu emphasizes fresh seafood, vivid citrus, and cozy olive oil in addition to fresh pastas, an assortment of meats, family-made cheeses, cleanly crafted cocktails, and an extensive, thoughtful wine list.
The intent of this series of Educational Wine Tastings is to promote and encourage the Italian “Eno-gastronomic” tourism by offering one-of-a-kind tasting experiences. Not only do we aim to give our guests the opportunity to experience and taste new, exclusive and unique Italian wine and food pairings, but we also give them the opportunity to learn more about the cultural, environmental, historical and social context of each regional wine. With this exciting program we want you to “Come Wine with Us” and provide you with a virtual exploration of the amazing beauties of wine production.
