Come to The Table!
Imagine a community where no child comes to school hungry. A community where everyone has access to safe, local, sustainably grown food. A community with thriving rural farms and a rich patchwork of vibrant urban gardens and markets. A community with a prosperous local food economy that provides entrepreneurial opportunities and good jobs that can’t be outsourced. A community that has recognized the realities of climate change and peak oil, and has taken charge of its food future.
Now imagine that place is your community – South Puget Sound.
The goal of the Food Summit is to bring the community together to develop a shared vision and action plan for creating a safe, local and sustainable food system for all. Through presentations and participatory break-out sessions we'll work togther to create an agenda for the future.
The event on October 15th is limited to 175 people. Registration includes beverages, snacks and a delicious locally sourced lunch.
The Food Summit will be the capstone of a series of events throughout the fall and summer that we are calling Focus on Food. Events leading up to the Summit will include tours of local farms and gardens, programs at local Timberland Regional Libraries, and a free celebration of local food at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts on October 14th.
