On Saturday, September 24th, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
The CONSTITUTION ISLAND ASSOCIATION with the Putnam History Museum will host its annual FAMILY DAY!
This year, Family day is being hosted by the Constitution Island Association and the Putnam History Museum. Family Day offers young families and people of all ages the opportunity to explore Constitution Island through a variety of fun, hands-on learning experiences and entertainment - all set in the unique, natural and historic setting of Constitution Island.
Visitors can explore the footpaths and ruins of Revolutionary War Redoubts, and transport back to a time before Henry Hudson sailed up “the river that flows two ways.” On-hand docents are available to discuss the island's historic Warner House, it's famous inhabitants the Warner Sisters, and the island's beautiful gardens.
Family Day activities include live animal exhibits, Master Storyteller Jonathan Kruk, in period costume, will entertain with thrilling tales of ‘Ye Olde Hudson Valley’, a history quiz table, a planting fun garden table, Anna's Art Studio coloring table, and the famous Teddy Bear Parade for younger children. We invite children of all ages to bring their favorite stuffed animal and march on the great lawn. Pet goats, ducks, rabbits, a bearded dragon and a baby kangaroo at the Two By Two Zoo’s exhibit! If you like turtles, snakes and skinks, visit the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum’s exhibit. Please have your children bring their favorite stuffed animal!
