Come and try Manx! All are welcome to this taster Manx workshop for beginners on Saturday 8th November from 1pm - 1.45pm taking place at Thie dy Vea retreat house in Peel.
No prior knowledge of Manx is necessary as this workshop is aimed at complete beginners. While the workshop is primarily aimed at adults (16+), young people aged 13-16 are welcome when accompanied by a responsible adult.
Ruth Keggin Gell will lead the 45 minute workshop, teaching a range of useful phrases in a fun, informal and interactive way. The focus will be on listening and speaking, although participants will be given a handy sheet of vocabulary and phrases to take away at the end of the workshop.
Ruth holds the position of Yn Greinneyder (Culture Vannin's Manx Language Development Officer), and is a qualified, experienced and encouraging teacher.
While this event is free to attend, should you wish to support Culture Vannin's development work - which makes workshops like this possible - we are always grateful to receive charitable donations. You can do this via our website.
*Important note*: we ask that participants do not attend this workshop if they have tested positive for Covid at the time of the event, or are feeling ill in any way. Please let us know if you would be unable to attend by emailing gaelg(at)culturevannin.im
There will also be three other Culture Vannin workshops at Thie dy Vea taking place on Saturday 8th November as part of the Cooish Manx Language Festival, including a morning 'Come and try Manx!' session, a Manx Gaelic Christmas song workshop and a two-hour long traditional Manx Gaelic song workshop.
