Description

COLUMBUS DAY Art & Nature Family Program

1 - 4pm (3-hour program)

Landscapes in Pastel – for kids and families!

Spend the afternoon at Hill-Stead, inside and out! Children and families will find inspiration from our famous pastels by Edgar Degas and compare with oil paintings of landscapes by Claude Monet and James McNeil Whistler. Museum Educators will then lead an en plein air art project using oil pastels, smocks, art boards and paper.

All participants should be prepared for the weather, rain or shine, as we will explore the property and view its foliage for inspiration. Each participant will leave with a matted, finished work of art, a museum bookmark, plus a free child’s museum admission to return to the museum anytime!

In addition, seasonal refreshments and treats baked up by Culteavo will be sold in the Museum Shop!

$25 per school-age child with Family/Grandparent Membership; $35 non-member children

Caregivers are welcome to drop off or participate with the child! (Adults of registered kids are FREE)

This program is limited to the first 15 registered children, so don’t delay!
