Volunteer at the Columbus Commons!
Lend a hand in the gardens in the heart of downtown! Help horticulture staff from Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens keep the 12,000 square feet of display gardens at the Columbus Commons looking beautiful. Stay and have fun afterwards at the free live concert and relax with a free drink, courtesy of the Columbus Commons.
When: Thursday, July 9th
Number of volunteers needed: 10 maximum (4 minimum)
Parking: Volunteers will get free parking in the Rich St. Garage.
How to find the Group: After parking in the Rich St. Garage, exit on foot towards Rich St. Cross the street to the Commons and head towards the carousel. Horticulture staff will meet you there. Staff will be wearing green shirts and khaki pants.
What to expect: All volunteers will go through a short orientation/training explaining the evening's projects. Then all volunteers will assist the Horticulture staff with various garden projects which may include: watering, weeding, pruning, cutting back perennials, and detailed plant grooming. Volunteers will be on their feet and moving around for the time that they're here, bending, squatting, and kneeling too. There are restrooms and water fountains on site.
Attire: Attire should be something casual, comfortable and that can get dirty, layers are recommended. Please no sandals/open toed shoes. Volunteers will be in full sun, so hats, sunscreen recommended.
Misc: We do not have a secure area to lock up belongings.
