Talk Summary:
JRuby is an implementation of the Ruby programming language on the JVM. It combines the JVM's performance and real threading with the dynamic and powerful Ruby language. JRuby gives you the flexibility of using Ruby and Java together in one application. This talk will cover the basics of the Ruby programming language and why you would want to use it, scripting Java from Ruby, and strategies for adoption.
 
Jason's Bio:
Jason Gilman is software engineer with over a decade of experience developing software for clients such as NASA and the airline industry. He specializes in Ruby/Rails and Java development. His most recent work includes building a high performance Earth Science metadata repository for NASA with JRuby, Rails, and ElasticSearch. Jason is an employee of Element 84 (http://www.element84.com). He's spoken previously about JRuby development at RailsConf and JRubyConf.
