Dean Mary C. Boyce, in partnership with the Office of the Provost for Faculty Diversity and Inclusion, LGBT @ Columbia, and Multicultural Affairs | Undergraduate Student Life, cordially invites you to the Magill lecture and presentation with Lynn Conway.

Conway's lecture is titled Our Travels Through Techno-Social Space-Time: Envisioning Incoming Waves of Technological Innovation


Conway is a computer scientist, electrical engineer, inventor and transgender activist. She is best known for her pioneering work of microelectronics chip design. Her innovations during the 1970's at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) have advanced chip design worldwide. Many high-tech companies and computing methods have foundations in her work. Lynn received her B.S. and M.S.E.E. degrees from Columbia University in 1962 and 1963. She is a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Emerita, University of Michigan.


The presentation will begin at 6 pm and will conclude with time for questions from the audience. A reception with light hors d’oeuvres will immediately follow the Q & A.
