Event description
Join the Columbia-Barnard Association for Women in Math its first ever mathematics conference!

About this Event

We have invited speakers to prepare fascinating mathematical lectures on their research, explaining the big questions they are currently chasing, and what makes these ideas so exciting. We assume a college level understanding of mathematics, but no specific domain knowledge.

Our goal is to expose conference attendees to exciting threads and challenges in mathematics, as well as to present the outstanding women who take on these challenges in their daily work. Rather than just show off the finished product, we have invited speakers at various points in their careers to share their passion for math---our invitees range from graduate students to full professors and entrepreneurs.

Although the focus of the conference will be research, we will also have a  panel dedicated to an open discussion of structural gender and identity issues as they relate to a career in mathematics.

Join us on March 28th, 2020 to learn about some of the modern people and confounds in mathematics research, and of course, to snack and laugh along the way.
