Event description

Description

It’s time for another FREE First Thursday Movie Night at Living Computers! Based on the sci-fi novel by D.F. Jones, Colossus: The Forbin Project explores what happens when a supercomputer is given total control over launching nuclear missiles. Will the computer save humanity from itself or wield its power in unimaginable ways?

The New York Times described the film as “no Dr. Strangelove” but rather an “unpretentious science fiction film with a satiric point of view [...] a practically perfect movie to see when you want to go to a movie and have nothing special in mind.” We’ll also feature a display of artifacts from the archives that highlight content from the film. Special thanks to LCM+L Member Chuck Huffington for requesting this film! Have a suggestion of your own – email us at press@livingcomputers.org.
