Colorado’s African American History Tours
New Cohort class every month!
Get Away and Learn about History
Learn about Colorado’s African American History while getting away from it all and getting all the credits you need for re-certification (90 clock hours=6-credit hours) within one semester. We will start with a 1/2 day workshop in Denver. Visit the Black Cowboy Museum (The African American West Museum) in Denver, the Denver Main library historical archives and Blair-Caldwell Historical Library.
We will then visit UNC campus & tour Dearfield and our 2nd tour will be a visit to the Pikes Peak area to see the locations where African Americans lived near and around Colorado Springs (Pikes Peak).
Finally, we will complete our journey with a full day workshop sharing materials, writing lesson plans, and discussing our journals with other educators. You will teach a Unit and write a student growth objective to be completed in one semester.
This will be a fun cohort that is individualized so you can teach Black History with a focus on Colorado History and African Americans. You will speak to professionals at the Museums, library, and on the tours. Register early: Call 720-326-5176, Entire Cost: $300.00 for 90 clock hours= 6-credit hours—educator re-certification. Take this class for fun and adventure. Our non-certification cost is only $125.00. New class starts every month. Special guest presentations from local Black leaders, Black cowboys and Black community historians. Location PLEASE CALL for first face –to-face class.
