Lori L Tharps is an associate professor of journalism at Temple University and the author of the new book, Same Family, Different Colors: Confronting Colorism in America's Diverse Families (Beacon). In this talk, Tharps will discuss the history and painful legacy of colorism in the African-American, Latino Asian American and Interracial communities. She will discuss how skin color discrimination continues to manifest in popular culture today and what people are doing to confront and crush the problem.
