Description

18th century taverns ~ stopping places for weary travelers, meeting rooms for rebellious patriots and community centers where neighbors socialized and shared the gossip of the day.

Please join us on Saturday, Nov.10, from 4 – 7PM, at the historic Abraham Staats House, 17 von Steuben Lane, South Bound Brook, NJ 08880, to learn about the early history of American taverns. Enjoy an evening of colonial-era food, drink, and music presented by the Friends of Abraham Staats House, Inc.

Congenial hosts Les and Jobie Ford will offer a tavern program featuring preparation of four authentic beverages enjoyed by 18th century tavern-goers and discussion of taverns and their importance in everyday life during our early American past.

On display will be authentic serving-ware as well as information about local taverns of the day. Sample a variety of light snacks popular with colonials. Enjoy the warmth of the fire, sip mulled cider and hum along to popular drinking songs and music of the period by house musician Tom Harabin. Candlelit tours of the rooms of the house will be conducted through the evening by guides in period clothing.

If you are a FASH member, please call 732-369-3583 to get your discounted ticket.
